In accordance with Executive Order 2020-01: Zero-Based Regulation, the Industrial Commission is striving to prevent the accumulation of costly, ineffective, and outdated regulations and reduce regulatory burden to achieve a more efficient operation of government. Currently, the Industrial Commission is reexamining the Idaho Workers’ Compensation; IDAPA 17.01.01 – Administrative Rules Under the Worker’s Compensation Law. This will mark the first time the entire workers’ compensation chapter has been opened since it was enacted, and the Commission recognizes the need for change and encourages stakeholder input. As part of the rulemaking process, the Commission will host multiple negotiated rulemaking meetings throughout 2023 and 2024 to allow Commission stakeholders to share their feedback regarding the current administrative rules and recommend potential changes to improve the effectiveness and reduce regulatory burden. More information regarding the coming meetings, including a schedule of which sections of the rules will be discussed on which date. The negotiated rulemaking meetings will also be available via WebEx for those unable to attend in person. Following the conclusion of negotiated rulemaking meetings, the Industrial Commission will hold two public hearings to receive final public testimony and comments in the fall of 2024. The Commission is currently accepting written comments regarding the Industrial Commission’s rules. Written comments can be submitted to the Commission until August 1, 2024. Comments can be submitted to the Commission by emailing Kamerron Slay, Commission Secretary, at Kamerron.Slay@iic.idaho.gov. |
